Participation reservation:
Acceptable methods of payment are credit card and postal transfer.
No billing statement or transfer application form will be sent. Deposit the payment into the account indicated in the reception confirmation e-mail.
After your payment is confirmed, an outline and participation certificate will be posted to you about two weeks prior to the convention.
Note that your payment of the participation fee is not refundable.
Your receipt can be downloaded from the participation application system.

Abstract:
Enter an abstract of your presentation online.
The information entered online will be directly inserted in the book of abstracts. You can correct your abstract anytime online before the deadline.
Check the presentation application content before you enter the abstract.

February 28, 2023 (Tues.)
Theme:
Any theme related to cosmetic science in general, submitted for the purpose of contributing to the advancement and/or improvement of cosmetic science.
Note:
Themes that fall under either of the following are not eligible:
(1) Use other than external application
(2) Those deemed to be a medicinal product for treatment beyond the scope of cosmetics
Qualifications:
Responsible presenters (lecturer) are limited to members or patronage members of the Society.

  • Student members are also eligible to give presentations. Applications can be made for both oral presentations and poster presentations. We look forward to your applications.
  • - In the case of replacing a presenter, you may only select a substitute from among the joint presenters. The substitute presenter (lecturer) must be a member (regular or student member) or an affiliated employee of a patronage member. Non-members and others who are not affiliated with a patronage member must join the Society in order to give a presentation. Please be sure to promptly report to the Society Secretariat.
  • - Each responsible presenter (lecturer) may only give one presentation.
Ethical considerations:
Studies that take humans or animals as their subject are eligible for application only with the approval of the ethics committee. If such studies have not received approval as of the time of application for presentation, they are not qualified for application. Please indicate in the abstract, slides and/or posters that the study has been approved by the ethics committee.
Conflict of interest:
For oral presentations, clearly state in the second slide of the presentation about any conflict of interest. For details about how to state a conflict of interest, refer to the example on the Society’s official website(https://www.jcss.jp/).Threshold amount for each item regarding conflict of interest will be listed on the website(https://www.jcss.jp/).You must make a note about any item that exceeds it threshold.
Acceptance:
Applications will be reviewed at the Convention Management Committee meeting held after the application deadline, and results will be announced in April.

Presentation Methods

  1. 1. Presentation format: Oral presentation (8-minute lecture and 4-minute question-and-answer session) or poster presentation
    *Presentation format is subject to change according to necessary COVID-19 precautions at the time.
    *In principle, the presentation will take place at the event venue. Poster presentations (video submission (*mp4 file)) are also open for online viewing and question-and-answer sessions.
    *If the Convention Management Committee decides that a change in presentation format is necessary as a result of reviewing your application, you will be notified along with the result of the review.
    *Details will be provided after the result of the review.
  2. 2. Presentation method: Oral presentations need an LCD projector and a Windows computer.
    *If you are using a Mac, please bring your laptop.
    *Presentation method is subject to change according to necessary COVID-19 precautions at the time.
    *You will be notified of the details of poster presentations along with the result of the review.
Notes regarding acceptance/rejection of application
The following criteria are considered for the screening of applications:
  1. 1. Presentations with unclear methods, outcomes, and/or conclusions are not accepted.
  2. 2. Presentations with a clear commercial purpose are not approved.
  3. 3. Presentations must give due ethical consideration.
  4. 4. In principle, presentations that have already been published or presented at related academic societies and/or working groups in Japan (e.g., The Society of Cosmetic Chemists of Japan) are not approved (with the exception of presentations to which previously unreleased data is added). Presentations that have been published or presented at other academic societies and/or working groups are eligible.

Photography and audio recording
Photography and audio recording are prohibited for all presentations, including general research presentations, Chair’s lecture, special lecture, and symposium, during the entire convention.
Filing for patent
While you can file for a patent with your presentation at the Society, you will also have to undergo the procedure for receiving the application of exception. For details, refer to the “Procedure for Receiving the Application of Exception to Lack of Novelty of Invention” on the Patent Office website.
The scheduled issue date of the Book of Abstracts is May 31, 2023.

The final program is scheduled to be released on the Japanese Cosmetic Science Society’s website.
